to Italian Veal

Decorated with hazelnuts and almonds, along with the Marsala wine sauce and pasta Farfalle ; (Buckles) stained.

Casalferro IGT
Barone Ricasoli (Tuscany, Italy)

Varieties: 70% Sangiovese, 30% Merlot

IGT wines, which often have a level of quality equal to DOC or even DOCG level, which became known under the heading of Super-Tuscans...

A well made wine. Casalferro ages for 18 months in barrique.  Prominent spicy oak on the nose, slightly sooty, preserved and partly dried black and red berries, spicy and nutty notes, hint of soup greens. Full-bodied and juicy on the palate, but also shows rather dominant oak, very ripe fruit, herbaceous Traces in the background, Fairly thin, astringent tannins predominantly stimulatingly, not too dry, very creamy, and has good persistence Some depth, light acid dick Slightly sooty OTHERWISE year we again very good finish.

The Casalferro is a blend of Sangiovese, the traditional grape of Chianti and Merlot. It is produced around the castle and Brolio conducted 18 months of barrel.

It reveals an extraordinary aromatic intensity with notes of overripe berries, see jammy, spice and leather and chocolate notes. In a long and extraordinary persistence, it is elegant and offers a near perfect balance.

This Super Tuscan is a marvel, its tannins still a bit firm announced a large-capacity custody.

This ancestral domain, since we already find traces of the Ricasoli family since the 7th century under Charlemagne, product Wine quality for 8 Brolio centuries, the town of Gaiole in Chianti. For

250 hectares in one piece around the castle were added 1200 acres northeast of Siena.

Summaries Of Behind Re

... Rolls Royce and Ferrari ...

the Rolls Royce and Ferrari ...

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia ...

First an observation:
both in Italy and here in Quebec,
many are those who believe that
Ornellaia has now surpassed the
legendary Sassicaia ...

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia, now owned by giant Tuscan Frescobaldi, which joined Russian interests and that Michael Mondavi, the renowned family of California which has retained a stake in the company.

The winemaker of Tenuta dell'Ornellaia is Mr. Axel Heinz, 39, born German father and a mother of Bordeaux, he speaks French ...

The Ornellaia
55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc , 4% Petit Verdot.
Ornellaia The older two-thirds in the French new wood, up to 18 months.

According to Mr. Axel Heinz, which differed according to him his wine from that of the other domain (Sassicaia)
"The Ornellaia is more charming, more opulent."
"They are our neighbors, not our rivals, we are in position now that the challenger, and I will not deny that our goal is to exceed the myth ..."

So one is really a Rolls and the other, the pretender to the throne, a Ferrari?
I would say that if Ornellaia is broader and more powerful, Sassicaia is rather built on elegance, perhaps more elegant too. In both cases, the sweetness of fruit, this velvety sometimes reminiscent of California ...

Every Super-Tuscan Cdn icts roots trace back to Sassicaia, The Grand Patriarch of All These wines, Which Produced first WAS by Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta for His Own Consumption In The 1960's. But in the case of Ornellaia this is especially true, as the winery was founded by Lodovico Antinori, whose aunt Clarice della Gherardesca married Marchese Mario. The Antinori family were already on the scene in Italy's greatest up-and-coming wine region, as Lodovico's brother, Piero, had been consulting at Tenuta san Guido, home of Sassicaia, since the 1968 vintage. To Lodovico the opportunities offered by the marshy Tuscan coastland known as Maremma, once valued by nobody save for a few lonely head of grazing cattle, might have been irresistible, having seen the success that his brother had achieved. In truth, however, his first calling was California, but others persuaded him of the potential on his doorstep, and having acquired a plot of land from his mother, he set about creating a great estate to produce wines in the emerging Super-Tuscan mould...

Head of the winemaking team at Ornellaia is Axel Heinz, of French and German parentage, drawn to Italy by an appreciation of the beauty that can be found here. He has clearly found his niche in Tuscany. He controls a small portfolio of exceptional wines produced at Tenuta Dell'Ornellaia, led by the grand vin, Ornellaia. This has traditionally been a Cabernet Sauvignon cuvée (this variety accounting for 46 ha of vines), with a decent proportion of Merlot and a little Cabernet Franc, although there is also now the possibility of Petit Verdot appearing in the blend.
